The Problem: Dinnertime battles, constant snack requests, accidental food rules, and the fear of raising a child with a poor relationship with food and body.

Feeding kids can feel like a high-stakes minefield. Between managing exhausting dinnertime standoffs, dealing with requests for snacks ten minutes after a meal, and trying to navigate the trap of labelling foods as "good vs. bad" or "everyday vs. sometimes," the family kitchen can get stressful fast.

The real worry keeping parents up at night isn't just today's vegetable intake—it's the deep-seated fear of accidentally passing down food anxiety or body image struggles. We worry about sending our children down that scary, exhausting path of chronic dieting, body dissatisfaction, and a lifetime of never truly understanding or trusting themselves. When kids are flooded with rigid rules about what they should eat, they disconnect from their internal biology. They don't need a lecture on nutrients; they need to know how to trust their own skin.

The Solution: A heartwarming story that makes body trust normal and fun.

Join Kai the Kiwi and his friend Tiki the Tūī on a beautifully illustrated adventure to discover the magical ways food helps our bodies, minds, and hearts, and connects us to the people we love!

Instead of policing plates or focusing on strict nutrition rules, this interactive storybook grounds health in everyday experiences kids already understand. Designed by a New Zealand Registered Dietitian, this 52-page book completely scraps fear-based talk about food. Instead, it gives your family a shared, positive language to talk about appetite, energy, and emotions without any shame or guilt.

Bring the story to the table: While this book stands perfectly on its own, it is designed to work hand-in-hand with our companion kid-proof wall posters and wipeable mealtime placemats to turn daily routines into fun, hands-on conversations.

What Your Family Will Explore Together:

  • Real-World Energy: Discovering how food physically fuels our bodies for daily playing, running, learning, and growing.

  • The Tummy-Brain Connection: Learning to decode natural hunger and fullness clues, and discovering how regular, satisfying meals help support our brains to navigate big feelings calmly.

  • Healthy Body Feedback: Taking the awkwardness out of digestion by exploring normal, stigma-free ways to read everyday body signs like hydration and digestion.

  • Whanaungatanga (Connection): Celebrating how sharing food and eating together builds deep, happy bonds within the family.

Includes a Special Guide for Parents: We know feeding kids is tough work! This book includes a dedicated information page for adults, packed with practical, dietitian-backed tips to help you foster a relaxed, body-positive environment at home.

Expert-Approved & Child-Friendly:

Developed with professional input from registered dietitians, paediatricians, and educators, this book ensures your little ones get a happy, healthy foundation for life. It is perfect for reading together at bedtime or chatting through over a weekend morning.

In a world where nutrition information can be confusing with all the messaging out there, it's fantastic to have a book that is written by a skilled dietitian, educator and scientist. Getting back to the basics of nutrition and hydration for our tamariki is soo important; and tying this in to our emotions and feelings, as well as the social evironment is essential. Highly recommend this book for families and schools.
